New Feature: My Comments
One thing that became pretty apparent after we launched the Tag Surfer, people were going to start leaving a lot more comments on blogs they may not visit regularly and it’s a real pain to track followups to comments you’ve left on WordPress.com. (Or even remember what comments you left!)
Well we’ve got a little something new for you today. (Free!) In your Dashboard sub-menu you’ll see a new tab called My Comments.
When you click on this, it’ll show the comments you’ve made across WordPress.com, as well as the comment directly before yours and any replies to the post since yours. Posts with the latest replies are at top. If a comment thread gets really long we trim it and only show the latest stuff.
So check it out, and to celebrate why not find a blog or post with no comments (like on the tag surfer) and share your thoughts? It’ll make someone’s day and now you can easily follow the conversation from the comfort of your dashboard.

Another great solution to a sometimes crazy problem!
August 14th, 2006 at 10:20 pm
This is a quite useful feature, especially for users who like to comment a lot.
August 14th, 2006 at 10:40 pm
A feature that makes great sense.
August 14th, 2006 at 10:40 pm
That sounds great – I have forgotten (sometimes) where I commented and this feature certainly helps! Thanks
August 14th, 2006 at 10:41 pm
Cool. Kinda like CoComment just for WordPress.
You realise I’m just doing this to test how long it takes to work? Cheers
August 14th, 2006 at 10:41 pm
Hi Matt,
WOW! Changes, changes everywhere and all of them good. I have a question: Is this new “My Comments” feature cumulative and archived so we can access it later? If so then we won’t have a need to continue to use cocomment for the comments we leave on fellow wordpressers blogs. Thanks for the innovation.
August 14th, 2006 at 10:44 pm
Yes it’s archived forever.
August 14th, 2006 at 10:46 pm
I noticed it before topic appears
NIIICEEEE one, I always wantid something like that…
August 14th, 2006 at 10:48 pm
And it works almost straight away!
August 14th, 2006 at 10:49 pm
Yes it should be instant, as soon as the comment is approved it’ll show up.
August 14th, 2006 at 10:49 pm
You must have been reading my mind. This is great!
August 14th, 2006 at 10:51 pm
Yeaah babe, shake it, shake it
I really like it
Can’t leave my eyes off
August 14th, 2006 at 10:52 pm
amm… Thank You again, I allways lost my comments…
August 14th, 2006 at 10:55 pm
Creating community and social networks a feature at a time, eh? This could be viral. lol
August 14th, 2006 at 11:01 pm
Brilliant! Now this is what I call useful. I even used it before looking at my stats! Nice one.
August 14th, 2006 at 11:03 pm
This sure saves me a whole lot of rss feed consumption
August 14th, 2006 at 11:12 pm
Purty cool!
August 14th, 2006 at 11:32 pm
This is another awesome feature. I tell ya…it just keeps getting better and better here a WP! Thanks a bunch!
August 14th, 2006 at 11:36 pm
Great feature. Would it be possible to have a feature where threads could be marked as read and removed from the dashboard, though? For those who comment a lot I can see that things could get pretty clogged up the way things stand.
August 14th, 2006 at 11:38 pm
Great feature. Any chance that we might be able to delete threads once we’ve read them, though?
August 14th, 2006 at 11:39 pm
you guys never cease to amaze me… thanks for this great feature…
August 14th, 2006 at 11:41 pm
cool very useful feature!
August 14th, 2006 at 11:48 pm
Nicely done, another boost to stitching together a community.
August 14th, 2006 at 11:59 pm
Great – this is really usefull, and additionally it removed my fear that now there will be no more free upgrades and that we might have to pay for anything.
August 15th, 2006 at 12:07 am
Awesome feature.
August 15th, 2006 at 12:11 am
Very cool. I’m seeing comments I completely forgot about
August 15th, 2006 at 12:16 am
Does this feature also track trackbacks?
How hard would it be to track comments that haven’t been approved yet? I’d like to see my comment (or possibly trackback) show up in my tracker the moment I send it or just a few minutes later, depending on implementation.
But this is great, thanks!
August 15th, 2006 at 12:17 am
This is great for the wordpress blogs but It would be cool if you include the CoComment plugin for people who use that as well.
August 15th, 2006 at 12:27 am
cool!
August 15th, 2006 at 12:30 am
Great job, love it very much… is this mean that comments can be read thru bloglines?
August 15th, 2006 at 1:14 am
Brilliant.
August 15th, 2006 at 2:07 am
Well done. This is an excellent feature that will definitely make it easier and encourage wordpress.com users to post to other blogs.
August 15th, 2006 at 2:33 am
Thank you – really useful!
August 15th, 2006 at 3:17 am
Very useful.
Only one problem. It seems to track comments made on one’s own blog. Perhaps, you guys could try to get around that.
August 15th, 2006 at 4:34 am
Love you guys. Following your comments makes the blogging experince more fulfilling.
August 15th, 2006 at 5:02 am
This is great! Thanks guys.
August 15th, 2006 at 6:06 am

Love how you guys are spoiling us with all these updates. Wonder if anyone will still doubt your commitment to improving WP.com in spite of the paid upgrades. Great job fellas!
August 15th, 2006 at 3:36 pm
Yes, this is a very neat feature. It certainly helps people share views easily and communicate better. Thanks, J.
August 15th, 2006 at 3:58 pm
Hooray for walled gardens!
Considering that WPMU keeps all it’s users’ data in separate tables, this is still quite an engineering feat! Bravo.
August 15th, 2006 at 4:47 pm
That’s a pretty sweet idea.
August 15th, 2006 at 6:00 pm
This is yet another very nice addition. Thanks Matt!
August 15th, 2006 at 8:15 pm

August 15th, 2006 at 11:44 pm
Great idea!
August 15th, 2006 at 11:52 pm
Yees! I saw this last night! That’s so awesome- thank you, Again!
August 16th, 2006 at 4:21 am
What I think would be great is to now have this feature in a widget. You could add a widget to your blog to show others the blogs you’ve commented on, which could get other people interested in those blogs too.
August 16th, 2006 at 5:10 am
Nice!
thanks for yet another absolutely great feature.
August 16th, 2006 at 2:38 pm
Matt, thank you. A cool, brilliant and absolutely helpful feature. Before now, I often completely lost track of sites on which I had commented. Love this.
Blessings to all of us here at WordPress…and beyond.

I love it. So what did I say the other day…oh. Yeah. Did I say that?
Such a shame one couldn’t do that for our brains. A replay button? Nah.

October 8th, 2006 at 6:57 pm
It’s pretty useful, but how can we get rid of the old comments we posted ? I mean when we don’t need them anymore ?
October 9th, 2006 at 10:39 pm
Thanks
October 17th, 2006 at 10:11 pm
Great thanks.
October 20th, 2006 at 10:55 pm
Yeah.. the comments arent getting tracked. Also, I am getting the comments written at my own blog space also listed, which I think is redundant
October 24th, 2006 at 3:21 am
well, the problem of one’s own comments seems to be resolved, becasue I am not getting my own comments (from my own blog)…
also, I am not having to scroll through weeks and weeks of comments, which is nice…
thanks guys! I continue ot be amazed at all you do (and still free fo most of us!)
October 28th, 2006 at 1:33 pm

I recently switched to WordPress.com from another blog (which shall remain nameless)! I am truly impressed with all the wonderful features that are available and the ease with which we can communicate to make our blog look terrific. Keep up the grrreat work you are doing.
November 3rd, 2006 at 7:34 am
Thanks wordpress, I really enjoy beeing part of this community.
In this new layout, I can’t find how I can edit my own comments. It was a useful feature as I could have corrected a typing mistake or add a link.
Is there still a way to do that?
Thank you again
November 5th, 2006 at 9:00 am

December 12th, 2006 at 1:41 pm
An idea crafted with the greatest imaginativeness!
December 13th, 2006 at 6:23 am
Why not also integrate CoComment.com in wordpress.com!
You can ofcourse install the Firefox plugin available from them, but having it in blog engine would be nice.
December 22nd, 2006 at 11:32 pm
It’s great!

I am indeed highly impressed with what i have seen at word press, I am into bloggingsince last August 2005, and blogs have become a vital part of my life in sharing a pictorial world that is human, the under belly of mans existence , pedestrian survival, and the world of ritualism, sufism , tansgenders hijdas, moharam, naga sahus, Ihave captured and without any reservation tried to link my unique overcovertly colored world with other bloggers..and the quest like the holy grail never ends…I have seen the sycophancy of cybernetic curiosity ,having srtetched this fabric of blog adventurism, in a short time, I am indeed prophecisizing that word press will in no short time become a powerful medium touching a lot of human life and human changes.. and this is my experience and inner gut feeling of 15 days since I signed up here.Yes I am impressed..and I write this at 3.30 am mumbai time .
