New Blogger Importer
Don’t call it a beta! This is the fourth version of the Blogger-to-WordPress blog migration tool. Does anyone else remember the original procedure with all of the settings and template changes? Ouch.
Thanks to the magic of Google APIs, the new importer works without modifying your New Blogger blog. If you haven’t upgraded your Blogger account yet, hop to it! Then you can copy your posts, comments and categories from Blogger into WordPress.
For blogs with multiple authors, it lets you assign each author’s posts to anyone registered on your WordPress blog. I put it through many tests and now it’s your turn. If you run into trouble, click the Feedback link in your admin pages and we’ll take a look. Just don’t tell us it’s too hard to use:

You’ll find it in the same old place: go to your dashboard, then click Manage, Import, Blogger. This new Blogger migration tool will also be included in the core WordPress package, most likely version 2.2.

Thanks, although I have no blogs besides WordPress
Feb 6th at 4:43 am
Yay! You guys rock! I’ve mentioned that before, but I doubt you get tired of hearing it.
Feb 6th at 4:53 am
Yes! Spread the news between your Blogger fellows…!!
Feb 6th at 5:01 am
Sounds spiffy and swell.
Feb 6th at 5:01 am
now if only we could import from blogsome blogs.
Feb 6th at 5:02 am
Excellent! Thank you for the continued improvements.
Feb 6th at 5:03 am
Anybody using blogger should have long ago moved over to wordpress. Now you make it easier for them. That is great!
Feb 6th at 5:07 am
Too bad Blogger doesn’t have this feature too.
Feb 6th at 5:10 am
Andy! Your moustache is so V!
Remember the Fifth of November!
*runs to inform friends still stuck at Blogger*
Feb 6th at 5:12 am
I have to comment on how much that icon rules. Now you need to change your name to “A for Andy”
Feb 6th at 5:14 am
Wow, you guys weren’t kidding when you told me that you’d have a way to move my old posts over soon… Cool! The formatting looks good, no complaints here. Thanks, WordPress rocks!
Feb 6th at 5:24 am
my wait is over – now *both* my blogs can be WordPress!!
(yeah, lovin’ the ‘stache…)
Feb 6th at 5:30 am
Sweet! Any eta on getting this available for us self-hosted WordPress users?
Feb 6th at 5:35 am
Is there a limit to 500 posts that can be imported?
Feb 6th at 5:44 am
Great .. I tried it and it doesn’t import all posts from Blogger. I had 2000+ posts in Blogger but only less than 600 posts were imported to WordPress.
Feb 6th at 6:27 am
oh yes god job
Feb 6th at 6:27 am
Yay! Cool. But I don’t use Blogger anymore!
Oh and love your mustache!
Feb 6th at 7:05 am
You’re even thinking of the guys who want to move from a blog to WP, not just sign up a new one. Thats great…
Feb 6th at 8:09 am
Good Job Andy-V-Vendetta! LOL
Feb 6th at 9:01 am
Excelent! God job.
Feb 6th at 9:02 am
Cool ! How about an importer for over-blog.com ? Many people would make the move if there was an importer available…
Feb 6th at 9:06 am
All right! WP rules! I’ve been waiting on that for years!
TXS! TXS! TXS!
Feb 6th at 9:41 am
That is a fantasic idea, when I migrated from livejournal I had to just leave everything there and start afresh. Not really a bad thing just a new fresh start.
Feb 6th at 10:59 am
C’est drole, mais je n’aimerais pas voir ça près de moi.La moustache comme la moustache, c’est le sourire qui me donne des frissons
Feb 6th at 11:20 am
Thank you very much.
Feb 6th at 11:23 am
Nice.
Feb 6th at 11:37 am
Useful for blogger users
.. Nice Work!
Feb 6th at 11:48 am
Wish something like this had been in place when I first migrated here from Blogger. Back then there wasn’t even a beta transfer tool … I transferred about 120 posts manually. Good to know you’re making things easier for the folks just clueing in to WordPress.
Feb 6th at 12:02 pm
Atlast, I can move to wordpress from blogger..
Feb 6th at 12:04 pm
more V mustache props
bloggy switching thing is cool too
Feb 6th at 12:41 pm
wordpress is superior to blogger
… that’s why i started using wordpress.
Feb 6th at 12:43 pm
great but my magic button is dead…it got authorization and just laid there like a dead body. No import. Nothing.
Feb 6th at 12:47 pm
This rocks. I appreciate this special effort from Andy.
Feb 6th at 1:00 pm
thanks for all the jobs guys
regards from deambulando.com
Feb 6th at 1:33 pm
wowwww! million thank from pre+ex-beta blogger.
Feb 6th at 1:43 pm
Will it mess up the origional blogger one? I tried this a long time ago and it recoded the old blog. Made me sad.
I would like to move it over to wordpress but it is not worth going through that pain again
Feb 6th at 1:57 pm
That’s just awesome!
Y’all are doing such a great job with WordPress!!! Thank you so much!!!!
Btw, I have to agree… Nice mustache…
Feb 6th at 2:03 pm
This is my first experience. Finding my way through.
Feb 6th at 2:07 pm
Can you copy over photos as well?
Feb 6th at 2:11 pm
Brilliant. Now there’s no excuse – all my Blogger friends can move over to WordPress.
Feb 6th at 2:52 pm
Sweet! I’ve been wanting to import since June but my system mysteriously froze any time I tried. Fingers crossed on this update.
Feb 6th at 2:59 pm
I can’t get it to work. Nothing happens when I hit the “magic button.” I did, however, contact support and formally asked for help. I’m so excited about this – I can’t wait to get it to work! WordPress is so great.
Feb 6th at 3:10 pm
Does not work with IE7
Feb 6th at 3:31 pm
Ouch I remember how I manually set categories to each and every post…
Can you introduce a multiple categories assigner tool?
Feb 6th at 3:48 pm
kill blogger! long life wordpress
Feb 6th at 4:11 pm
Figured it out! I’m not sure what was happening, must have had to do with my cache or cookies or something. I simply used a different browser and it worked beautifully! Posts, comments, images, it all looks fabulous.
Great job – and a million thanks for all your great work!
Feb 6th at 4:18 pm
good job guys, you really work hard for it
Feb 6th at 5:08 pm
Good Job…Thats gr8
Feb 6th at 5:13 pm
Brilliant – given all the complications of commenting on the new blogger – this will make the move over so much easier.
Feb 6th at 5:44 pm
Its very cool. But it dosen’t seem to be working for me. I am on IE 7 and its been authorized it shows me the number of posts and comments and The Magic Button. When I click the magic button nothing happens. However, I do see a javascript error on the page. Line 161, Error: Expected identifier, string or number.
Any clues??
Feb 6th at 6:21 pm
Does not work with firefox or safari so I’m still stuck. Poo.
Feb 6th at 7:20 pm
My magic button is broken.
Feb 6th at 7:21 pm
Andy, you’ ve achieved a V for Vendetta avatar … i do like it !
^__^
Feb 6th at 7:31 pm

I could have used this back in June… Too bad I don’t use Blogger anymore.
Feb 6th at 10:37 pm
It didn’t work for me all morning (PST) in either Firefox or IE, but then it worked fine in the afternoon.
Feb 6th at 10:51 pm
Yes, yes, yes! I tried over the weekend and it wouldn’t happen.
Feb 6th at 11:16 pm

Feb 7th at 2:56 pm
Now just get cracking on that fabled Blogsome importer and I can die happy. Well, after I import my Blogsome site, that is. Then I’ll die happy.
Feb 7th at 7:26 pm
no excuses for blogger anymore
wordpress all the way!
Feb 7th at 11:03 pm
The import was flawless, and I had no hesitation in announcing the end of my blogspot weblog’s end.
Feb 7th at 11:46 pm
excellent! I now have my old posts! (shiny or cringe-worthy, none were left behind!) thanks guys!
Feb 8th at 12:55 am
I wonder, should I start a blogger blog so I can try this out? I feel like it is the only way for me to really appreciate it. There may be something amiss in my perception here; it happens.
Oh, wait… if I know some blogger bloggers, I could tell them, couldn’t I? Or, maybe I already told them to get their great ideas started here and they didn’t listen to that either. Oh, never mind, I will just watch all the WordPress numbers go up as they eventually catch on to this place!!!
Nothing gets worse here, it just keeps getting better and better. Not hard to notice, actually!!!
Did I forget to say THANK!!!???!!!
