DePo Masthead Theme Launch

DePo Masthead Front Page
I’m excited to announce DePo Masthead, designed by Derek Powazek.
This is one beautiful theme that draws on classic magazine design. The style is minimal, yet bold and detail-oriented. There is more here than meets the eye.
So, what’s different about this theme? It’s got lots of dynamic features. The header font changes size depending on the length of your blog title. And, to keep things neat and tidy, the column heights of your the articles on the front page will always be equal, even if one article has more content than another.
The focus in this theme is on your content. Each article starts out with the comments tucked away, allowing your reader to take in your brilliance fully, then expand the comments to start the discussion:

Comments Before & After Unfolding
Take note of the beautiful navigation elements and clever use of typography. And for the widget lovers out there, we’ve turned the bottom right panel of the footer into a widget area.
We hope you enjoy this one!

wow
September 13th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
Neat theme. That’s the best part
September 13th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Thanks for adding it. It´s a nice, clean, professional, beautiful and elegant looking theme. But I concur with previous opinions that widgets should be distributed evenly on the bottom for balance, and of course I the user should have the freedom to decide just how I organize them. A “previous” or “next” is also necessary. And I have concerns if YouTube videos dispaly properly as a previous comment states, since I like to embed videos on my posts.
Wanted to give it a try out, but since I don´t see Andreas04, my theme for the last 8 months, listed anymore as an option, I rather keep what works for me until the little issues are fixed. Why is Andreas04 theme no longer listed at wordpress dot com? Anyone know?
But keep the 3 columns themes coming!! They are way overdue! A selection of only 6 themes is hardly enough.(I am partial to having the columns on the right, thanks)
September 13th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
@wp1597 Andreas04 is still there. We never have removed or intend to remove any design from our directory. Please visit your dashboard and then go to Design -> Themes to view all the available designs.
The theme is all widgetized at the bottom, so you can distribute them however you like.
September 13th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
albeo is better
September 13th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
Cute…. MORE MORE MORE please! I really want a theme that has custom colors, custom headers, widgets, and all the other goodies! <3
September 13th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
Just made it the template for my creative writing blog.
Thanks!
September 13th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
This is a very unique and awesome theme. It’s great to see you guys up the Theme development front, and it’s even better to see the implementation of more modern and innovative Themes. Great job!
Now, it’s be even better to see more varieties of three-columned Themes, there’s just way too few of them.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
bloody marvellous!
not sure about the black & bordeaux or is it bergandy colour though
orange would look gorgeous
can one change the colour – better tootle over to themes/designs and try it out!
September 14th, 2008 at 12:17 am
really feels like publishing your own mag or journal! thanks wordpress!
September 14th, 2008 at 1:24 am

Thanks,
brian
September 14th, 2008 at 3:37 am
At first I wasn’t sure that I liked it when I tried my blogsite with it….however, it has grown on me…alot! I’m waiting to see if I get any positive or negative comments from my readers.
September 14th, 2008 at 3:38 am
nice theme, i will try
September 14th, 2008 at 4:12 am
excellent!!!!
September 14th, 2008 at 5:37 am
Thank you. I think this style is long overdue.
September 14th, 2008 at 6:17 am
ooo very nice
September 14th, 2008 at 7:19 am
I like this theme.. Although the only thing stopping me from using it is not having the option of a custom header…
September 14th, 2008 at 7:27 am
Apart from the title, which is simply too large, it looks beautiful.
I would have used it, but it appears that this theme only displays three posts at a time. Most bloggers have more than three posts they’d like displayed.
September 14th, 2008 at 7:56 am
This one is simple and neat! But I want more themes, please.
WordPress is the best,
Way ahead of the rest!
September 14th, 2008 at 8:08 am
Mmmmm…methinks I’ll stay with my current theme, thanks!
September 14th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Thank you for anther new theme.
September 14th, 2008 at 11:12 am
I like the look, but the bottom elements need more flexibility. As I have an archive going back years, the archive section is very long, while the widgets section is even longer thanks to my lengthy blogroll. It would be better to have more control over the elements that go in these sections, perhaps having two widgets panels and/or a drop-down menu for the archive section (as the archive widget has).
September 14th, 2008 at 1:54 pm
when are you going to give us FRESHY 2
September 14th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
Nice theme. Wanna more new themes specially three columns.
September 14th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
I loved it so much that I immediately activated it! A tip for those who think the blogtitle is too big: Make it longer!
September 14th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Classy and professional, thanks!
Adds legitimacy to any blog
September 14th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Pretty, pretty pretty good
September 14th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
simple, sweet, and even better if customizable. it’s about time we had less-cluttered themes like this.
September 14th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
It`s look like as nice theme. And new themes are good for WordPress.com. Because user did not see more technical improvements (extremely, when they are in foreign language), but user see how it is look like.
September 14th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
Great, like it .
September 15th, 2008 at 1:46 am
Cool but a little unattractive, make a theme that is like BAM and make people just like
! lol.
September 15th, 2008 at 1:48 am
the title is little big too! But it still is a cool theme
September 15th, 2008 at 2:51 am
veeeeeery nice!
September 15th, 2008 at 3:19 am
I just started my blog http://wordsunleashed.wordpress.com and decided to use this theme and let me tell you I love it. This theme is by far the best in wordpress, well that is my opinion.
September 15th, 2008 at 5:17 am
Its pretty good… expecting more themes….
September 15th, 2008 at 6:36 am
wow, cool…
(^_^)v
September 15th, 2008 at 7:24 am
I am trying now, thank
September 15th, 2008 at 7:31 am

September 15th, 2008 at 7:47 am
Wow. Thanks!
September 15th, 2008 at 8:08 am

September 15th, 2008 at 10:22 am
yalın ve güzel…eline sağlık dostum…
September 15th, 2008 at 11:53 am
Sorry guys, 3 columns themes are not my thing… nice effort though
September 15th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
ich have just a little question: is this right, that the widget “DePo Archives & Categories” shows only the first five categories? or is this a bug, which will be fixed?
September 15th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
I like it enough to use it although I’d love to know where my new links are to be found in it!
Love the colours and the layout.
Thanks!
September 15th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Very cool.
September 15th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Strange…
September 15th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
My thanks to you Noel for all the work Staff you put into preparing the theme for launching and also for making additional changes to make it suit the wordpress.com blogging experience. I’m using the theme at present as I believe it showcases my blogging tips best of all, and I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate this addition to the theme selection.
September 15th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
Its pretty sweet!
September 15th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
So cool.
September 15th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
So far I have stuck with this theme, I really like it. It’s neat and a nice change from the standard blog theme.
September 15th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
The journalist in me likes it.
September 15th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Yes, the custom widget is supposed to only show a few 7 categories and archives. It was the intention of the design.
September 15th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
Wojciech Pastuszka, are you still having issues? It seems to be working fine here.
September 15th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Looks nice, certainly more designs like that (simple, professional) are needed.
September 16th, 2008 at 12:50 am
Simply awesome. I’m using it, too.
September 16th, 2008 at 3:47 am
I love the theme – Love the inspiration from print layouts, but I won’t be able to divorce my Freshy until those YouTube clips get straightened out. I’ll be keepin’ an eye out to update!
September 16th, 2008 at 4:17 am
A custom header and tabs for various pages similar to say Digg 3 would be GREAT . . . plus the custome widgets as mentioned to allow for sponsors etc
September 16th, 2008 at 10:54 am
It seems good looking =)
September 16th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
I’m gonna try this out. Thanks!
September 16th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
nice job
September 16th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
It looks alright but i think my theme is better
September 16th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
Another strange issue is, when I use this theme and send trackback to other site, it will show up some JS code.
For instance, check this url: http://jacky.seezone.net/2008/09/09/2123/#comment-6329 .
September 16th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
It’s a great theme! I’m using it. Thanks!!!
September 16th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
cool, thnx
September 16th, 2008 at 4:09 pm
beautiful
September 16th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
Good Theme. Maybe I use it. Because I prefer the Garland.
But this is very BEEAAATTTIIFFFUUULLL!!!
September 16th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
Think I’ll try it.
September 16th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Sorry, don’t like it. Interesting, but too different from your average blog and more difficult to navigate.
September 16th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Minimalist??? I love that word!!!
September 17th, 2008 at 12:33 am
I don´t like it
September 17th, 2008 at 3:15 am
Oooh, I would kill for a single-column version of this theme that fits 500px photos. Any chance?
September 17th, 2008 at 6:51 am
Hi – this is fantastic, although the header is a bit large. I’d like to see it shrunk up so you can get more of the first article in to grab the reader’s eye.
September 17th, 2008 at 7:40 am
hmm…interesting, maybe I’m gonna use it later on, very neat theme by the way, nice.
September 17th, 2008 at 11:21 am
Keep the new themes coming!
September 17th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Strange…
September 17th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
when will be available for Brazil? I do not think this theme in wordpress …
September 17th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
The blog header text? Done with a percentage value? Genius!
September 17th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
love it!
September 17th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
I’m still loving this theme but it’s a pity that it doesn’t show a comment count on the main page
Maybe in the future?
September 17th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Thats really nice. I just started on this today.
September 18th, 2008 at 2:15 am
The comments link from my latest entry overlaps the title from the previous entry. It makes it look messy. And the header is far too large. The big font is a plus in my book, but I won’t choose this theme until it stops doing those wonky things.
September 18th, 2008 at 3:06 am
I’d like to see more girly themes, prettier layouts. Simplistlic is nice, but I’m ready for the pretty (not fru-fru) stuff.
September 18th, 2008 at 4:24 am
the ability to use a *more* link would make this one perfect… using a more button would allow one to keep the top section even. Otherwise, it’s a clean look. It’s very eye-catching.
September 18th, 2008 at 5:54 am
This looks neat, but what about images, if I have a big image in any post…. will the image also dynamically adjusted?
September 18th, 2008 at 7:11 am
looks nice. will try it
September 18th, 2008 at 8:17 am
Good theme…..
September 18th, 2008 at 8:20 am
Hi, very cool theme, thanks for sharing.
September 18th, 2008 at 9:55 am
Hmm..
Actually, it’s cool. But I prefer 2 Albeo so far.
Hope WordPress can launch the others new theme soon…
September 18th, 2008 at 10:37 am
The Themes Not Have Bad! But Why Not lose the white and make a really colorful one that stands OUT!
Albeo has too Much white There Is A Lot Of white So Just Make A Really Colorful one
September 18th, 2008 at 11:24 am
nice theme!
