Bring Twitter to Your Blog
Have you become addicted to telling the world what you’re up to in 140 characters or less? If so, we’ve launched a feature that you’ll love: a Twitter widget for your sidebar.
Now you can quickly and easily keep your readers connected to your updates on Twitter, and make your blog the home of even more of your content. We use it on the WordPress news blog to let you know what’s going on with our @wordpressdotcom account.
All the links that you post to Twitter remain clickable in the widget, and your @ replies link to user profiles, like when you say, “Hey @photomatt!”. Hashtags link to Twitter Search for that term, like #wordpress. Timestamps link to the individual update, and the heading of the widget links back to your profile.
To add the Twitter widget to your WordPress.com blog, just head to Appearance > Widgets in your dashboard. The brand new Twitter widget option is there waiting patiently for you.
Click “Add” to add it to your sidebar, and then click “Edit” to set your Twitter username and choose how many updates you’d like to display. No passwords needed.
Have more than one account on Twitter? No problem. You can add as many as you like! Just add another widget as you did before.
Update: We’ve released the Wickett Twitter Widget plugin for WordPress.org users.
I don’t see it in my widgets for some reason. Help!

You should see it listed in the left column of your WordPress.com widgets page.

Thanxs, but it’ll be good if you add a “t” icon (the t in the twitter icon) before the title of the widget – so people can easily recognize that’s a twitter space.

Not under “Ambiru” it’s not. No sidebars are allowed. Any help?

Ambiru is a single column theme that is not setup to use widgets. Not all themes have the option to add widgets.

Now this was a really well-timed release – just when I was getting frustrated that I’d have to use the RSS feed route. Well done guys! One little suggestion: could you consider extending the widget with an option to display the Twitter account’s picture besides each tweet?
Glad to see that you’ve cleared up the caching bug quickly too.

Help!!! Please!

If you hadn’t customized widgets yet, you just need to add the Links widget or any other that you want to display. When you haven’t added any widgets, the theme displays a default set of widgets.

See this is my problem: I’m not a huge fan of Twitter. Call me old-fashioned; I’m just not a huge fan of a social network like Twitter. However, I do want more traffic. Maybe I could find some kind of alternative? Or could somebody please convince me that I could be responsible with a Twitter account?
I love WordPress and its creative creators. Keep it up!
