SocialVibe
You spend a lot of time creating great content and attracting an audience for your blog. What if you could use that influence to make a positive social impact? Now you can.
We’ve teamed up with SocialVibe, and now by adding the SocialVibe widget to your blog, you are able to earn donations for the charity of your choice by getting sponsored by a brand that appeals to you.
Each time someone visits your blog and engages with your brand (by rating a video, for example), you’re making a difference. That impact is immediately visible on your badge, i..e., ‘My blog has provided 63 cups of clean water for people in need.’
The money donated comes from your brand, so you and your readers never have to pay a dime.
In addition to earning donations, you’ll also get feedback from your charity about the difference they’re making thanks to you. By clicking the charity logo in the badge, you can find information about your cause and view real-time goal progress.
Setup is easy and only takes a few clicks – just go to Appearance->Widgets in your dashboard, add the SocialVibe widget and pick a cause and a charity. For more details you can find documentation in our support area. If you change your mind about your sponsor or cause, you can easily make adjustments by visiting your widget dashboard.
If you are running a self-hosted WordPress blog, be sure to grab the SocialVibe plugin.
With SocialVibe, our community can pool our individual influences to create positive change in the world.

Hi!
I have a question about this new widget.
The first time I clicked on help now! it’s free button I saw the video, I rated it, and then a new window appears let me put my name and a little comment. Now, if I do the same process I can’t see the comments, I rate again and click on next, but the video is still there and I can’t see any comment
Any suggestion? Thanks!

Curious. I wonder if my preferred charities would be listed.
June 18th, 2009 at 7:33 pm
This is great!
June 18th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
That’s Awesome!!!
June 18th, 2009 at 10:23 pm
Ugh, nevermind. I withdraw all interest. socialvibe.com is an unusable website. I can’t even get a list of causes. They make me wade through flash nonsense, then clicking links, then back, then clicking next, then clicking a link, etc. Total garbage.
June 18th, 2009 at 11:29 pm
I’m very excited!
June 19th, 2009 at 12:05 am
Awesome! I’m going to add that widget right now, this instant!!!! HAHAHA!!!!
June 19th, 2009 at 12:27 am
I love the idea!! Feels quite good being able to help people
June 19th, 2009 at 2:53 am
my first time of blogging..i think it looks great.
June 19th, 2009 at 3:05 am
awesome idea dude
June 19th, 2009 at 3:51 am
It would be easier if the SocialVibe site was easier to navigate — Why not post a simple list of sponsors and causes that one can scroll down?
It is far too graphics-intensive — quite unnecessarily so — so that those of us with bandwidth caps have to waste costly bandwidth looking at brands and causes we have never heard of to come to ones that interest us.
I gave up after the first 30 sponsors and the first 10 causes.
June 19th, 2009 at 4:56 am
Thats a good idea and might motivate to newer ones..
June 19th, 2009 at 7:08 am
Awesome idea Thanks!
June 19th, 2009 at 7:15 am
it is worthy cause if anything that all of us do can contribute to make the world a better place to live.
June 19th, 2009 at 11:28 am
good idea
June 19th, 2009 at 12:56 pm
this is great! now i can help people by blogging
June 19th, 2009 at 2:24 pm
I did add your widget in my blog…although my blog is written in french…I like the idea and I wish to convice my reader to use it (not to mention there is no branded charity cause appealing to us)… That being said there is big : BUT…BUT….cause once you get in the sponsor window, there is no indication on how to exit without having people quitting my blog. I am not ready to loose them once they are in… I think you should add a BIG X to close and let my viewers come back where they were before opening the window. The window is so big that we don’t even see the background of my blog. Not a chance, they’ll figure out to press in my blog space to return. If this is not corrected, I will take it away because it is not the way i wish to help by loosing my readers.
Hope you correct the issue…

sbedard — from what I’ve seen there is always a “Close” button, usually in the upper right corner.
June 19th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
i am elated to begin writing, at first i was not sure what blogging was but now the road is clearer.
Brighter days are coming!! life is what you make it…
June 19th, 2009 at 6:12 pm
I added the widget three days ago, and got the Alert:Misconfigured message. I contacted support, and still haven’t gotten it fixed or heard back. Can someone help me, please?
June 19th, 2009 at 11:38 pm
tspoon — Just replied to your ticket. It looks like it’s working now.
June 19th, 2009 at 6:33 pm

Im in
June 19th, 2009 at 7:01 pm
Yeah! thanks
June 19th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
Try showtime…I can guarantee you that there is no “close” button neither in the right corner or the “wrong corner”…Maybe a quality insurance step to add in the acceptance of an advertising…
Thanks for the corrections
Sylvie
June 19th, 2009 at 11:40 pm
sbedard — just tried Showtime and the “close” button is in fact present in the upper right corner. The window they use is a bit large, and we’ve mentioned that to SocialVibe, so you may have to scroll a bit to see the “close” button depending on your screen’s resolution.
June 19th, 2009 at 10:44 pm
A great feature! Thanks, amigos!
June 20th, 2009 at 1:21 am
I am usually skeptical about companies that claim to give anything away for free but on the chance that it is legit, I will add it to my page
June 20th, 2009 at 1:35 am
This is a very cool idea. I’ll be sure to put it on my blog.
June 20th, 2009 at 2:01 am

June 20th, 2009 at 2:49 am
Thank you greatly! As a non-profit Blogger whom never uses PayPal only direct site URL’s to insure monies
winds up 100% in the hands that require it. I am truly grateful that for some may be an,” oh yep, uh huh”, but to IVAW, VFP, FreeGaza , any Persian student groups and about , hmm a Gazillion others in need. Thank you thank you thank you.
Peace
Rhoda

June 20th, 2009 at 2:24 pm
Something worthwhile that could be replicated by other popular portals/sites.
June 20th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
TNT has donated 343 gallons of clean water to children, thanks to my adding this to my blog and testing the feature.
Its mindboggling. So, instead of paying advertisers, they pay the charity and everyone except the media that would have carried the ad.. should be happy?
I feel happy that some children are getting clean water…. due to this… I felt a little powerful in face of the global water issue.. as opposed to helpless…
June 20th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
Very good indeed

So I’ve added this to my blog which uses the contempt theme – it’s a great initiative but unfortunately the widget doesn’t seem to fit in my sidebar and some of it is lost.
Any way to ammend this?
June 22nd, 2009 at 7:39 pm
A. Howard — can you add it back and send a note to support, then we’ll be able to take a look.
June 22nd, 2009 at 9:44 am

Sounds really great!
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:31 pm
Has anyone else had their donations collected (in my case minutes of online support) reset to zero?
On Saturday I had collected 20 minutes worth and by Sunday I was back to one minute – even today, though I know family and friend’s have clicked on it and rated the video etc.
June 22nd, 2009 at 7:43 pm
Vince — The original charity you selected actually reached their goal and started a new one. The badge shows the impact for the new current goal so it looked like it reset to 0, but it’s just a new goal. We are working with SocialVibe to make this clearer – as it’s a bit confusing right now.
June 22nd, 2009 at 11:51 pm

It’s a great idea! It’s world community be loves!!!
June 25th, 2009 at 7:50 am
Sorry for being so negative, but the issue with charities is not the input, it is the transmission. If the transmission remains poor, we are doing a disservice by enhancing the input.
June 25th, 2009 at 10:25 am
Thanks for giving us another opportunity to help other people.
June 25th, 2009 at 11:46 am
