New Theme: Mystique
I think you’ll agree this theme has a certain mystique to it. This fun, colorful theme is flexible enough to fit any type of site — it’s simply loaded with options. A long-time favorite for self-hosted sites designed by digitalnature, Mystique is now available in your WordPress.com dashboard.
What doesn’t this theme do? It offers layout choices of one, two, or three columns, six color schemes, four footer widget areas, and support for four post formats. Not to mention built-in links to your favorite social networks in the header, a unique custom widget with quick-switching tabs, and special treatment for a “featured” post at the top of the site.
Read all about Mystique on the Theme Showcase — I think you’re going to really love this one.

Ooooooo! That is so pretty! Good job again guys! (I feel like I’m repeating myself so much on these things, but I really have loved all the latest designs.)
April 22nd, 2011 at 5:16 pm
I love this! Great, great details! If it weren’t for the text making my eyes bug out after awhile I would switch! Still, great job!
April 22nd, 2011 at 5:37 pm
This theme is awesome, i am trying it out right away.
April 22nd, 2011 at 6:52 pm

Wow… so brilliant… I like it.
April 23rd, 2011 at 2:27 am
MYSTIQUE, a variegated panoramic theme, I hope everyone will like it.
April 23rd, 2011 at 2:38 am
Excellent theme. I really like the RSS/Twitter, etc icons you can place on the top. Trying this one out now on one of my blogs.
April 23rd, 2011 at 3:25 am
It’s HOT! Love this one.

April 23rd, 2011 at 5:17 am
Tried this out within a day of hearing about it (through you). Wonderful.
April 23rd, 2011 at 10:04 am
It looks great. Very fun and professional at the same time.
April 23rd, 2011 at 1:04 pm
Now I have swapped my theme to “Mystique”! You won’t believe it, but it looks great! Thanks for this AWESOME indescribable theme! I love it.
April 23rd, 2011 at 1:18 pm
Fantastic! I love it! Well done to all involved!
April 23rd, 2011 at 1:21 pm
PERFECT for one of my blogs, thanks guys.
April 23rd, 2011 at 1:51 pm
I won’t use it on my blog.
April 23rd, 2011 at 2:22 pm
Oh! Love this one… I’m dying to trade in Twenty Ten, but nothing else has worked, yet. Trying it right now!
April 23rd, 2011 at 3:13 pm
Wow, this is actually nice.
April 23rd, 2011 at 6:33 pm
This is AWESOME! Finally a good new theme that you don’t have to pay for!
April 23rd, 2011 at 7:52 pm
This is a great theme. Clear, uncluttered but still looking great.
April 23rd, 2011 at 10:10 pm
Wonderful!! Every time I see that there’s a new theme I get excited. Finally I’m not disappointed again! lol Love this one.
April 23rd, 2011 at 10:17 pm
I like this theme, but I am kind of in love with my plain yet get to the point theme. I kind of think a overpowering theme takes away from what is actually in the blog.
April 23rd, 2011 at 11:42 pm
Ohhhhh I love it. Great, great, great. I might actually switch over! It’s colorful, cool… The kind of theme I want.
April 24th, 2011 at 1:31 am
Looks great! Thanks WP!
April 24th, 2011 at 2:01 am
This theme is amazing! I love the subtle but eye-catching use of color! Perhaps this is the theme to finally tempt me away from Under the Influence…
April 24th, 2011 at 3:47 am
I don’t like this theme. It shows the gravatar on the bottom of every post and I can’t get rid of it!
April 24th, 2011 at 3:58 am
Really nice. Very impressive.
April 24th, 2011 at 3:59 am
It is quite amazing.
April 24th, 2011 at 7:18 am
It’s lovely. Brilliant.
April 24th, 2011 at 10:38 am
Now the Mystique theme is not just for wp.org only. It’s great!
April 24th, 2011 at 10:46 am
Simply superb, love it.
April 24th, 2011 at 3:49 pm
Hmmm… I’m not too sure with the colour palette used in the example though. Together, black, olive and plum red plus bright white header become a brassy bunch, no?
April 24th, 2011 at 4:23 pm
After a year with Bueno theme, I pulled the trigger and made the change to this brand new Mystique theme this Easter weekend.
Mystique has a clean look, it’s simple to navigate and is very “easy on the eyes”.
WordPress.com…you hit the ball out of the park this time! Well done, well done.
April 25th, 2011 at 5:07 am
Thanks Erik, we think it’s a great theme, too.
April 24th, 2011 at 4:23 pm
Really like this one, especially the sharing icons on the top right, probably the first new theme that’s come out that I’d think of switching to.
April 24th, 2011 at 11:14 pm
Thanks a lot…I’ve been waiting for it since I started posting on WordPress!
April 25th, 2011 at 12:16 am
I like this, might be enough for me to switch my gardening blog over from 20-10. Thanks for the good work you folks do.
April 25th, 2011 at 6:42 am
Good stuff. =)
April 25th, 2011 at 7:51 am
I think this is the best theme I’ve seen yet. I may switch to it at some point when the winds change.
April 25th, 2011 at 8:52 am
Wow, I like it. It’s so cool, I’m sure to use it.
April 25th, 2011 at 12:57 pm
This is going to be my theme – I love it!
April 25th, 2011 at 1:23 pm
Easily the best theme you guys have introduced in a while.
Clean, viable and not cheesy at all.
April 25th, 2011 at 2:30 pm
Looks seriously beautiful.
April 25th, 2011 at 4:15 pm
This is hot stuff.
April 25th, 2011 at 5:27 pm
I really love the background colour. I wish it wasn’t so dark cause then I would use it. But I absolutely LOVE the way the RSS and Facebook buttons are presented on this layout. That’s what’s up.
April 25th, 2011 at 7:11 pm
Wow! Amazing!
April 25th, 2011 at 8:25 pm
Yes! At last, been waiting for this one to come from wordpress.org!
April 25th, 2011 at 9:03 pm
You guys should do like a Harry Potter theme, like gold and red. Sorry just a Harry Potter fan here, oooh and make them house colours. Green and silver, red and gold, yellow and black, green and blue. Yeah I know I got a bit carried away here. What do you think of my idea?
April 25th, 2011 at 9:42 pm
Nice work, trying it out!
April 25th, 2011 at 10:18 pm
Great theme!
April 25th, 2011 at 10:25 pm
I like this theme, it’s very beautiful.
April 25th, 2011 at 11:42 pm
I’m liking it, activated it now to tweak it.
April 26th, 2011 at 1:12 am
Hi, I’m using this theme right now, with some changes. I really like it. Thanks for such a great theme!
April 26th, 2011 at 6:04 am
Awesome! I love it!
April 26th, 2011 at 6:34 am
Interesting, I love the pods and the handle “Mystique.”
April 26th, 2011 at 7:10 am
This is it! Good job.
April 26th, 2011 at 8:17 am
This is a wonderful theme! I use it now, and it looks great.
April 26th, 2011 at 2:38 pm
I’m so loving this… it’s perfect in every way possible.
April 26th, 2011 at 3:46 pm
That’s pretty trick, and I really like the social tags at the top, great work! Cheers.
April 26th, 2011 at 5:56 pm
Looks great! Like the rainbow gradient against the dark background! Very artistic!
April 26th, 2011 at 6:38 pm
Fantastic theme! I added it the moment I saw it but the text displayed in the theme is really hard to read & off putting
Dont know if tits something to do with my firefox4 browser….. Wish it would be right!
April 26th, 2011 at 6:54 pm
Oh my, I really like this one… I changed over right away…Love it for my art blog!! I haven’t figured everything out yet…low tech brain…but love it.
April 26th, 2011 at 10:17 pm
Great, gives me ideas for an artistic blog.
April 27th, 2011 at 5:48 am
I like the theme, it’s beautiful really — but the middle content area with the two sidebars is too small. Anyway, good job.
April 27th, 2011 at 7:43 am
One word: wow.
April 27th, 2011 at 12:12 pm
BEST THEME EVER!
April 27th, 2011 at 6:20 pm
Great! I’m so loving this!
April 27th, 2011 at 9:38 pm
Mystique is terrific! Clean; elegant; flexible; featured sticky post; multiple post formats; color-changing links; footer widget areas; attractive use of fonts and formatting; nice background options and defaults; neat background gradation at the bottom; subtle menu and widget shadows add a welcome 3d depth.
I wish there were a few less-garish color schemes (grey doesn’t count); I wish I could hide the featured post title/label so the image would be more like a blog header image; I wish my long tagline simply wrapped into 2-3 lines rather than shifting below the title; I wish there was a bit less empty space above the title.
These complaints are just quibbles, though. It’s the next step beyond Twenty Ten > Coraline > Clean Home. Well done, and thanks!
April 28th, 2011 at 7:02 am
Beautiful one WP.
April 28th, 2011 at 9:03 am
This theme is awesome and almost perfect for my science resource blog for students. It fits my site’s purpose as a course management system and is clear and easy to navigate. Well done!
April 28th, 2011 at 1:15 pm
I absolutely love it, going to preview it and see how it looks on my blog!
April 28th, 2011 at 9:56 pm
As I mentioned when first commenting, this theme is exactly what I’m been looking for to make a thriller/adventure blog on science fiction/fantasy look stylish. While exploring it I found the very useful-looking “Mystique Tabbed Widget.” This appears to be useful, but I could find no way to order the tabs on the widget. I would at least like very much to be able to control the one my readers are immediately hit with. Could this be considered in a future upgrade?
April 29th, 2011 at 7:58 am
Love it, especially the bouncy social media buttons top right.
April 29th, 2011 at 3:26 pm
I really like this theme and I plan to test this for my own blog! Finally a cool theme! And it’s not something you have to pay for either. YAY!
April 29th, 2011 at 4:58 pm
It’s so beautiful, I like it so much.
April 29th, 2011 at 6:19 pm
I love the design! It is super cool! It’s so, teenage. And not in a bad way!
April 29th, 2011 at 6:38 pm
I like the sidebar.
Nice job!
April 29th, 2011 at 7:09 pm
Oh, my, god. That theme is so well composed, vivid, and not to mention that it’s actually free…! I totally switched to it without a blink! <3
April 30th, 2011 at 2:51 am
I’m enjoying all the Dr. Strangelove references all over this site.
May 1st, 2011 at 11:38 am
It’s simple yet sophisticated. Like Like Like.
May 1st, 2011 at 12:13 pm
Great theme!
May 1st, 2011 at 11:58 pm
Nice one to add to the WordPress.com lineup. I’m using it on my self-hosted blog at CoachNotes and get a lot of compliments on it. Thanks to Digital Nature (who is also author of the very nice Fusion theme).
One thing to note about the Mystique theme. I almost hate to bring it up, but potential users should be aware: This theme had an April Fool’s joke built in that changed all your gravatars to unicorns on April 1st of the year! (Yep, happened to me, but easily fixed). Maybe it is not inherent in the WPcom version.
Otherwise, a beauty!
May 2nd, 2011 at 3:57 pm
Hi Vernessa, good point on the April Fool’s joke in the original theme. We decided to remove it from the WP.com version.
May 2nd, 2011 at 5:18 am
Too beautiful and colorful. Liked it
May 2nd, 2011 at 3:55 pm
Not for me but it is a nice design. Good work as always.
May 2nd, 2011 at 4:59 pm
YEAH! This one is great.
May 2nd, 2011 at 9:34 pm
Wow awesome, love the theme.
