New Theme: Piano Black
Say hello to Piano Black, the newest theme to launch on WordPress.com. This dark and elegant theme showcases your content with a design that feels sophisticated yet techy and modern.
Make it yours with a header image, background, and custom menu, and optional RSS and Search areas in the header. Piano Black also includes a full-width-template for dropping the sidebar on pages. See more information on the Theme Showcase.
Designed by mono-lab — and a long-time popular theme for self-hosted WordPress blogs — Piano Black is available now in your dashboard under Appearance → Themes.

Wow, I actually might use this one next time.

This is a great theme. I love it. It is simplistic, but elegant. The theme team have really out done themselves. I’m gonna make one of my blogs into this theme!
July 23rd, 2011 at 1:41 pm
That’s a really fine theme for special blogs.
July 23rd, 2011 at 4:16 pm
Love this kind of theme. Minimal.
July 23rd, 2011 at 5:05 pm
Cool theme… I hate the font choice though. I think a more serif-type font would be better. It just clashes for the sharpness of the colors and the softness of the font choice (don’t mind me I love serif fonts LOL).
July 25th, 2011 at 10:06 pm
Hi Lotus, you can change the fonts for this theme, and any WordPress.com theme, with the Custom Design upgrade.

Excellent work! I absolutely love dark themes as I believe they are easier on the eyes.. .and this one is perfect!
July 24th, 2011 at 8:07 am
I very much like this theme. Good job, guys!
July 24th, 2011 at 1:20 pm
Dear WordPress: I love your site, but all your new themes seem to look the same. I chose a more artistic theme for my site. I’d like to see more artistic themes being offered. What do you think?
July 25th, 2011 at 10:09 pm
We’re continuing to launch more and more themes, of all kinds of styles. If you have any ideas for themes you’d like to see on WordPress.com we’d love to hear them in our themes forum: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/themes.

I recently got a compliment on the way my blog looks with this theme by a friend of mine who is a web designer. He said that this theme was the best so far. It works well with my music themed blog. Great Job. I’m glad this theme is available!!!

Great theme! Saw it today, and had to put it up right-away…
August 1st, 2011 at 1:16 am
Well, it’s elegant and simple. But it doesn’t look like a piano.
August 1st, 2011 at 6:49 am
This is such a great design! Luv it! It would be great if we could customize the color of the background!
August 2nd, 2011 at 4:38 pm
Great news, roniel—you can customize the color of the background: from Appearance → Themes if you want to add a background image or color.
August 1st, 2011 at 10:16 am
Finally a stylish dark theme. (Thank you, please keep ‘em coming! Some people serious eye issues with the straight white most WordPress.com themes use, which is why I left WordPress.com in favor of Tumblr.)
August 2nd, 2011 at 5:44 pm
We do have quite a few dark themes now: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/colors/dark/. In some cases, the screenshot there is white, but if you look at the theme options you’ll see the dark color scheme as an option, like with Twenty Eleven.
August 1st, 2011 at 3:41 pm
Looks great! I like it!
