Now Publicize to Facebook Pages
Since we launched Publicize for Facebook, which automatically shares a link to new posts to your Facebook account, one of the top requested features has been the ability to Publicize to Facebook Pages. We’ve been listening and working hard, and are happy to announce support for this today.
If you already have Publicize active (which you should if you like traffic), you’ll now see a link to set options for Facebook, inside the Facebook block on the Sharing Settings page.

If you click on it, you’ll see a simple dialog box that lists all your available pages to pick from.

If you are new to Publicize, you’ll see a sequence of screens confirming permission to post to your Facebook account, before you see the screens above.
Also note, currently you can only Publicize to one target: either a page or your wall. This should be more than sufficient to get your great posts out to a wide audience of your choosing.
We hope you enjoy this added flexibility in how your blog posts get shared to Facebook.

Great, thanks for doing this! I hope this option works better than the prior publicize option because there were a lot of kinks with that…
August 9th, 2011 at 1:41 pm
Oh, thank you! Have had to do the extra work myself adding the link to my page–thanks for the time saver! Now if you could work on getting an “undo” button on the expanded writing page we could really be friends.

I’m having the same problem:

Hey, every time I click the “set options” link…I don’t get a new box, it just disconnects Facebook. I think there may be a glitch”
August 9th, 2011 at 2:07 pm
Yay! I’ve been waiting for this!
August 9th, 2011 at 2:32 pm
oho nice publicized and news…
August 9th, 2011 at 2:59 pm
This is great but I have not been able to get my images to come through on Facebook. I just get a thin line down the left side of the blog. Is there something I’m missing?
August 9th, 2011 at 3:31 pm
this is a great idea! do you think we can have an update linked to tumblr? Is it possible in the future?
August 9th, 2011 at 3:32 pm
Publicizing blog on facebook will be really amazing.
August 9th, 2011 at 3:55 pm
this is a good option. i will reactivate facebook.
August 9th, 2011 at 4:09 pm
will this be available for self-hosted wordpress installs at some point?
August 10th, 2011 at 6:58 pm
Jeremiah: We currently release WordPress.com features out to the general WordPress community through Jetpack, a free plugin for self-hosted WordPress blogs. Publicize is not currently available in Jetpack, but may eventually be added.

August 9th, 2011 at 8:19 pm

August 9th, 2011 at 10:10 pm
I registered, logged in, wrote blog posted it, you send me emails and today when I tried to log in you said I wasn’t registered!! How come you are sending me emails, if you’ve never heard of me?
August 15th, 2011 at 11:39 pm
The emails go to the people who have subscribed to this blog based on their email address. It’s that simple. The fact you get an email from us means you’re on the list for this blog, and possibly nothing more. If you have trouble logging in, you should contact support.

next up multiple Facebook publishings, also Google implementation
August 10th, 2011 at 3:06 am
This is awesome! I used this for a blog this morning – the only downside is that the featured image which normally displays next to the link in Facebook doesn’t display when the link publicizes straight from WordPress – any chance of getting the image to display as well? It helps make the post a lot more eye-catching!
August 10th, 2011 at 4:10 am
My facebook publicize feature hasn’t been working for the past three weeks.
Good to know you’re making more features available, Thanks!
August 10th, 2011 at 9:53 am
im totally happy for using wordpress.com, i have a suggestion, it would be really great if we could pubish one post from our blog to even more social networks like: ning, stumble upon, digg, etc, just choose the best 20 websites and add them as a service, it isn’t that simple, needs a lot of code and functionality but this can make a serious blogger to be more exposed in other profiles/webistes too, that would be a really good service, keep up the good word, and make us happier
August 10th, 2011 at 11:31 am
Nice!
August 10th, 2011 at 11:48 am
This is a great addition to have! Don’t like sharing on your profile..share it on your page!
August 10th, 2011 at 11:53 am
Finally! Saves all the “copy and paste the link to Facebook”
August 10th, 2011 at 11:54 am
LOVE this! Thanks so much!
August 10th, 2011 at 12:13 pm
For those who tuned in late, it’s not clear to me how to turn on the Publicize feature in the first place. Thanks!!!
August 10th, 2011 at 1:59 pm
Thank you, but why on earth are you limiting this to one option?
“This should be more than sufficient to get your great posts out to a wide audience of your choosing” – You clearly have little clue as to how people actually use pages VS profiles. The majority of people have far more profile friends than page fans. I have 900+ friends, but 300+ fans. Your enthusiastic update is actually more annoying than not being able to post at all.
Sort it out, this is a half step forward labelled as a leap. Why stop half way when you know the road is longer?
August 10th, 2011 at 6:48 pm
Hi A/C. You asked:
We like to release requested features as early as we can and make them better incrementally, and we’ve improved Publicize in many ways over the last few months. Any ability to post to Facebook pages has been a popular request for some time and we wanted to address it. We’re not limiting it to one choice due to whim or to see how we can annoy you – we like you! It just turns out its more complex architecturally than it might appear to support options that seem so simple from your end of things.
It may have been daft on my part to suggest this is more than sufficient, but it certainly gives more flexibility than previously possible. As you and others point out, now the most requested feature for Publicize is no longer just publishing pages, but being able to publish to multiple targets – its on our list.
August 10th, 2011 at 2:24 pm
Is it possible to transfer the comments people make on the blog post when it is published on Facebook?
August 10th, 2011 at 6:25 pm
Sorry, but no. Facebook comments can be private, so we can’t automatically pull them from Facebook and return them to your blog.
August 10th, 2011 at 4:12 pm
Great! Looking forward to using this!
August 10th, 2011 at 4:57 pm
FABULOUS! Exactly what I wanted. Thank you very much.
August 10th, 2011 at 10:34 pm
Mmmm… sounds great!
August 10th, 2011 at 10:53 pm
Love the feature which almost makes ping.fm obsolete EXCEPT you can only publicize to one facebook page. No this is NOT helpful. create a great feature and then be so stingy with it. It is our FB pages and our blog! Why do you get to be the one that chooses how we run our business.

I’m there with ya!

I’m really happy to hear this, you know before I used Networkedblog to do this. And I want to publish to many facebook pages (and profiles too). Can it work for me. And I also hope to hear when this will work on Google+ too? Thank you so much for your hard work!
August 11th, 2011 at 3:03 pm
very useful, thanks!)
August 11th, 2011 at 5:05 pm
This is cool! I wonder if you guys are going to implement a similar feature to publicize to Google+ ?
August 11th, 2011 at 5:09 pm
Hi, your above answer is not very clear or helpful to me without seeing a live example (reference: http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2011/08/08/now-publicize-to-facebook-pages/#comment-136061).
Facebook allows you to setup your Page with a pseudonym (Page Admin who’s name could be similar to the Page’s name but it isn’t necessarily the Facebook’s profile name under which the Page is registered). The question I was asking is, does WordPress post to Pages show up under Page’s name or do they show up under Profile name? It would be helpful to see a video example. Thanks.
August 15th, 2011 at 11:37 pm
It will show up using the name of whatever account you use to authorize Publicize to use Facebook.
August 11th, 2011 at 11:11 pm
Thank you for your hard work to bring us this comfortable option.
August 12th, 2011 at 4:13 am
Great addition!
I use WordPress to run the website for a group of mine, and was wondering if there were any plans for this to work for Facebook Groups as well. (It’s more collaborative-focused for us, so a Facebook Page is not as useful.)
August 12th, 2011 at 4:54 am
Awesome! I’ve been waiting for this because I didn’t like spamming my friends or family that don’t read the blog. Thanks so much!
August 12th, 2011 at 4:54 am
Im sorry to say but this is absolutely useless for me, until you allow posting to both the FB Wall and the FB Page. I don’t want to sacrifice my FB Wall for my FB Page.
And I may not know too much about technology, but if one can publish to either, then how difficult is it to allow publishing to both ??

August 12th, 2011 at 10:44 am
This was most helpful. I’m now trying to improve SEO and other means of driving traffic.
August 12th, 2011 at 11:37 am
When I click on the Set options button it disconnects from Facebook – what am I doing wrong???
August 12th, 2011 at 3:53 pm
This is good stuff, many many thanks!!!
August 12th, 2011 at 6:02 pm
Just noticed that the “like” button and the number of likes are not showing on my posts today. Anyone else experiencing the same?

I have seen the replies saying that publicizing to both page and wall is on your list and just wanted to add that I am on that wagon. In fact, I stumbled on this because I am kind of a newbie and was trying to find out how to do it. Thanks for the update!
