New Theme: Skeptical

Today we’re pleased to introduce the latest addition to our themes, Skeptical. Originally released by WooThemes for self-hosted WordPress.org blogs, Skeptical has seen great popularity as a blog theme. Now, it is available on WordPress.com.

The Skeptical Theme

The WordPress.com version is designed with Post Formats in mind. Skeptical supports nine post formats – standard, quote, aside, image, gallery, chat, audio, link, and video. Just by looking at the screenshot above, however, you can’t see all of the ingredients that make this theme sizzle. Now would be a good time to read all about Skeptical’s features on the Theme Showcase.

    Beautiful. Couldn’t believe it’s free.

  2. toemusic

Nice and clear theme! Light colours make it comfortable to read.

  3. Margie

Easily readable font, block quotes are nicely accented, wide photos are shrunk properly, lots of customization options! The main column width is quite narrow when using the three column format.

  4. Debra Elizabeth Archibald

I think this is a stunning theme!!

  5. Jeff

it’s very nice! but the tagline is so small it’s virtually unreadable. I would say crank both the page title and tagline up a couple points

  6. nazir94

I think it’s the best colour theme.

  7. ciaranaustin

  25. helar

    Nice one! Clean and elegant.

  26. Kinna

I’ve been looking for a theme to replace my much-loved Vigilance, just for a change. Skeptical has all the elements and options that I want in a new theme. I was surprised to discover that it is free. But, alas, the column width is too narrow. A lot of space is wasted on the first column whose sole purpose is to present the post title, date and number of comments. Also, tags can only be seen in a full page view of a post. But thank you, it’s still a very nice looking and functional theme.

  27. Taku

    Oh gosh, that’s really pretty!

  28. angelbein

Wow this is a very neat theme! :) It’s cool to the eyes.!!

  32. Ricky Staines

  33. nikesoccercleats

Nice and clear theme! Light colours make it comfortable to read.

  34. phoxis

    Too good to be free!

  35. Bellatrix

Great theme – even gets nested lists correct, though it hides the text before the more tag in the actual post. A love/hate thing there. Would be great as a customization option (unless there is already is one).

    • Takashi Irie

There was a glitch on more tag but it’s been resolved now. I hope you now only love the theme :)

  36. beyondanomie

WooThemes are generally great. I just started a new second blog last week using their The Morning After theme; frankly I was surprised it was free. Skeptical appears to be following that tradition, and is tempting me to switch, but on balance I think Morning After still suits that particular blog’s needs better. But still, very impressed by the flexibility of all the different post formats.

  37. Bosstiger

I really like this theme and I will try it, that’s for sure :D
Keep up the good work :D

  38. Recis

    Hey Theme Team!

I just love it when you guys work with WooThemes to come up with amazing blog templates for WordPress.com bloggers. Here’s to hoping you would release more magazine-style themes . . . FREE!! :D

    Thanks very much!
    Cheers!

  39. SaniAgung

Awesome when I know that free !! Thankssss…

  40. Ro

I am totally psyched about this theme! I’m already playing around with it to see what it can do. :)

  41. Reggie

Ooooh, I like this one a lot! If I can figure out how to convert my blog to it, without losing any of my current widgets, I’ll give this one a try.

  42. Joanna Aislinn

Clean, simple and very cool-looking. Nice features, too. Thanks!

  43. bozoworld

Great theme! i would pay for it…but thanks for keeping it free!

  46. mrasherkade

It reminds me of all the other ones…… :(

  47. airborne

Is there a way to change the fonts used in this theme without spending a dime?
Frankly, I feel the the fonts on it don’t belong there.

    • Takashi Irie

I’m afraid you need Custom Design upgrade to change the fonts on Skeptical.

  48. Kale

I think, I’m a bit skeptical about Skeptical.

But it’s so simplistic I kinda like it.

  49. Matthew Paladino

I like this…very simple and lovely!

  50. chocolatelie

I like it a lot except it’s not right for my photography blog…

  60. thewanderingsiren

I dig it. it looks great!

  61. Words of Little Relevance

I find this quite easy on the eye. I know it won’t be to everyone’s taste, but hey, that’s the point of themes.

  62. veryyang

I love, love, LOVE this theme. Please update so that the HTML links are clearly visible – the black and grey are nearly indistinguishable at the moment!

  63. vilde0110

I like it very much. Clean and simple!

  64. Denzil

A really lovely, clean, bright theme (the best yet). I agree with the last poster: please update the links, they are hardly visible at all. Thanks!
