Early Theme Adopters: Ubud

gosketching. is the showcase for the brilliant artwork of Lewis, an illustrator with a knack for travel-inspired sketches. His site features a dramatic header image and a black background, both of which set the stage for the streamlined grid of his drawings. He wisely chose the landscape format for his images, emulating the look of a sketchbook — in some drawings you can still see the spiral binding!
Wendy Sittner
Artist Wendy Sittner uses Ubud for her portfolio site, where she presents her mixed-media artwork and shares news about recent and upcoming projects. The portrait image format allows visitors to have a detailed view of her pieces, while her main menu offers easy navigation to her various projects, as well as to a contact form.

So where is the one with nontangible business in mind? Seriously We need a site just like everyone else but the ability to offer a quote is the most important feature and we have only one way to gain information from prospective clients.

How are the photographers protecting their work that appears on the site? i.e. are they using watermarks, etc?

Following up with Kathleen’s comment, why don’t themes designed for use by artists, photographers, etc., have “right-click save image” disabled by default? Let the artist decide if they want users to download images. The pirates can screen-cap for sure, but casual users will download and share images over social media by the millions, adding to the enormous orphaned works problem and greatly increasing the chances of those images being harvested commercially or used in ways contrary to the artist’s wishes. Such scenarios place an enormous burden on creators. Discovery and follow-up with DMCA notices takes plenty of time and effort.

It has everything I was looking for: clean design, which showcases well my photography. It is nice to work on a blog which doesn’t have the typical layout. Last but not least, for a premium layout the price is very affordable which was also a decision-making point for me.

The Pictorico Theme is also very good. 10-image slider on the main page. Alexa also. This is of course a matter of taste. All the best from Germany-Berlin and Forst…..
