Get Kids Blogging at the Digital Family Summit
Attending the Digital Family Summit this coming weekend in Baltimore, Maryland? Our own Karen Arnold will lead a workshop to teach kids and their families how to get started blogging on WordPress.com. Karen, along with Velda Christensen, Alx Block, and Jennifer Dodd will be on hand to teach kids and their families how to set up their WordPress.com blogs. The workshop will break into smaller groups to help kids customize their sites. The WordPress.com workshop takes place on Saturday, October 12th from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.
Already registered and need some ideas on how to get started? What does your child/tween/teen love? Horses? Lego? Video Games? Books? Pets? Sports? Blogging about hobbies and interests is a great way to help kids learn more about what grabs their attention and meet other kids and families with the same interests. Kids also gain important digital literacy skills and learn how to be a good citizen of the internet.

That is awesome! I just set all my 6th grade students up a blog for our class. They have really been active and enjoy having their very own blog. I’m having a hard time keeping up with them! #digitalkids
I’m thirteen and I LOVE blogging on WordPress. I think it is a great idea to get more kids involved!
My 10 and 8 year old sons just started to blog. How I wish we could go to the summit!
What a great idea. I think I’ll approach some of the teachers at my school and see if there’s an interest in teaching some of our children how to start a blog. Maybe I’ll make it a club.
That sounds like a great idea. I wish i blogged when i was younger. I’m now encouraging my siblings to start blogging.

That’s really cool! I wish someone in our country would make a class like yours! Well, I am trying to make it happen any way 🙂
That sounds cool! Gets the kids away from the video games for a minute. Nice!
